28 May 2010

We got a few paper surprises in the mail this week from our families. This handmade card by Aunt Sue made us smile.

martha’s vineyard

25 May 2010

So out of the 300+ pictures between my iPhone and SLR, I collaged a visual summary of our trip.

Oak Bluff’s Inn (room #4), biking, fish tacos and sunset at Sand Bar & Grille, couples massage at Conscious Massage with joyful proverbs, Gay Head Lighthouse, Menemsha, rhodendrums at The Arboretum, dinner at The Sweet Life Cafe, Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium, the colorful homes surrounding the Tabernacle, and the MV Gourmet Cafe and Bakery who sells fresh donuts from the back door starting at 7 pm.

The highlight of the trip was being with my Jon. Today marks our 1st wedding anniversary.

back

A New York City sunset greeted us as we returned from our trip to Martha’s Vineyard. Home.

brown all around

21 May 2010

We lost major carbon points last week by buying and devouring these Italian, organic kiwis. I didn’t even know they were from Italy until we got home and I noticed the tiny, yellow sticker plastered to one brown, hairy behind. No, they are not so attractive from the outside, but kiwis prove that ‘true beauty comes from within.’

We didn’t buy any for this week, and oh how I missed their green, juicy goodness.

shy shadows

I met Akira while interning and what a pleasure it was to work with such an awesome designer. Above is just the paper portion of his genius. His spring collection of sea creatures, scandalous pop art, vespas, and mini’s are so lovely and fun. All handmade! The land creatures are cards from his older collection which are still my classic favorites. Check out his etsy store and become a fan of Shy Shadow!

thrifted gold

19 May 2010

Last Saturday was the perfect day for browsing through outdoor flea markets; sunny 70′s. So after having lunch with our good friends we walked through the Fort Greene market. However, my latest find came while on our walk home. A man from Peru sold us these Greek tea cups and I think something about them appealed to my Indian side;  must be the 24K gold plated details. They are so small and intricate I just had to have them. They are combined here with some thrifted plates (ceramic + wood) I found in a consignment shop on Roosevelt Island last summer. It was actually the same night that I found two vintage Eames chairs in the trash. I feel like I struck gold that day too.

cars that run on water

18 May 2010

I finally got a set of watercolors and all I wanted to do was paint cars; quite possibly because I am looking forward to our road trip to Martha’s Vineyard this Thursday.
